You may remember my entry room update from a little while ago. I decided to add another finishing touch to our front door recently. I noticed that we have been getting a ton of contractors knocking at our door for a while now, trying to pressure me into hiring them to work on our house. I noticed that they do not seem to go knock on the surrounding neighbor’s doors, so I can only assume they peruse the recent sales in the neighborhood and target those homes.
One day in particular, I was taking a break from painting one of the rooms and decided to take a little pregnancy nap in the living room. The pets started going wild and woke me up. I looked up and saw a man’s face staring in the little window at the top of our front door. I got a little creeped out by a man watching me nap, and decided that window needed to be covered up a.s.a.p.
Since it is an odd shaped window, I didn’t want to try to put a curtain to cover it. Instead, I got some self-adhesive window film with a “lace” pattern to it. The film would be really easy to use if using on a standard sized window, but it was a little trickier with the door window.
I started by using a piece of plain printer paper to trace an outline of one of the glass panels. I had to make more than one template since they are actually not all the exact same shape. Then I cut out the film, sprayed the glass with water, placed the film over the glass, and spread it on with a squeegee. It took a little while to get it perfect (and I ended up doing a little bit of extra trimming), but I am so happy with the end result! Now I don’t have to worry about anyone looking in that window. 🙂
